Washington, D.C. is forecast to see 6 or more inches of snow through Monday as a winter storm approaches the Mid-Atlantic. Already the storm has created blizzard conditions and snarled traffic across parts of the Central U.S. FOX Weather's Robert Ray reports from Indianapolis and Steve Bender reports from Washington. Winter weather advisories were in places for 16 states across the U.S. from the National Weather Service early on Monday, with up to 18 inches of snow forecast in parts of the country. A new storm system is moving into the Plains and the Midwest on Friday evening into Saturday morning, with an Ice Storm Warning issued for Iowa and Icy Alerts issued from Kansas to Minnesota. Winter Storm Warnings cover millions, while forecasters warn of ice accretions reaching potentially destructive thicknesses. More than 16,000 flights have been delayed or canceled since Sunday when a major winter storm began. The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for Iowa and other ice alerts from Kansas to Minnesota.
