 DC Fire and EMS confirmed that a small aircraft crashed into the Potomac River near the airport, as helicopters and fireboats rushed to the scene to search for survivors.  The air-safety agency said the passenger jet, Flight 5342 en route from Wichita, Kan., was on approach to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport around 9 p.m. Eastern.  Here is the latest on the crash. A small plane crashed in the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday night, Washington’s fire and emergency department said.  Washington, D.C., police said on the social platform X that multiple agencies are conducting a search and rescue effort in the Potomac River after an aircraft crash. Video from an observation camera at the nearby Kennedy Center shows two sets of lights consistent with aircraft appearing to join in a fireball.  A passenger aircraft crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport outside of Washington, DC, according to the DC Fire and EMS Department.
